Major home reconstruction by Home Healer Remodeling

The following is one of our more interesting projects, taking what the sellers considered as a perfectly good home and the buyers making some major changes...

Our part was to do the demolition, framing, installation of the windows and close up the exterior and make weather tight.

Imagine yourself walking down to the end of the hall, you go straight into the bedroom to the left or go to the right and walk into the adjoining bedroom. Both rooms are identical sizes, mirror images... lets take up the carpet and padding and make some changes...

Bedroom to the left...                                         Bedroom to the right...

Now see this dividing wall disappear and make the two rooms one large study / guest room.

But first we need to remove all the drywall. Yes, all walls, ceilings and insulation too.

While we are at it, how about we take out the four windows in the corners and reframe for floor to ceiling windows and turn it into a solarium. Oh, in order to all this, we need to first cut back the ceiling joists, lift a 400 pound beam up into the rafters to hide the new roof support beams and then build temporary supports for the perimiter walls while we cut out the existing support walls and build new framing to accomodate the new and much larger windows.

Don't forget, if we make major changes to the inside, we need to do the same to the outside as well.

Picture with original corner windows...              Now with new floor to ceiling windows...

Okay now, lets move to the kitchen...

A few of the cabinets have been removed         And now the rest of the cabinets and wall...

If some changes are going to be made, lets go ahead and loose the dead space in the bay window area where the sink used to be, straighten out the wall and put in more windows and don't forget, remove the original 8' sliding glass doors and put in 12 foot sliding doors.

Now you see the bay window...                         Now you don't !

Since the new owners have 4 dogs, it only makes sense to take up the hardwood floor thrughout the house, as well as remove the drywall from the fireplace wall, frame it for a new doorway to the new solarium and make it ready for all new tile dramaticly changing the look and feel of the great room.

It just goes to show, most anything is possible if you have the dream.
