Drake Neighborhood Exterior

Here is phase 2 of a long term project in the Drake Neighborhood.

The kitchen was completely gutted and rebuilt in early 2008 so now it's time to do exterior work on this home built in 1912.

As we are spending a great deal of time in the field on this project at this time only pictures will be posted and a description will follow later.

Outside of kitchen area. Back was originally a porch.                      Old yellow vinyl and white lap siding removed.

3 layers of roofing: original shake, 2 layers of asphalt.                    Old "roof" too brittle to re-use.

New sheeting installed.                                                                    All new cedar soffit, facia, drip edge and trim.

Completed roof.                                            Exterior trim all milled and installed.               Removing more siding on side entry.

New cedar lap siding going on...                                                      More siding going on. Notice the metal trim around the 3 windows.

Removal of metal exposes original wood trim.                                 Old trim removed and new cedar milled and installed.

One of many reasons I do not like vinyl siding...

All new window trim milled and installed. We did keep the original sill to keep with the period of the house.

Scaffold repositioned and ready for the upper second floor. Here, siding is removed and boarded window is ready to be covered up.
